I like taking an idea and making something I can actually use. Building it gives me a way to test what I was thinking. Some parts work as expected. Others make me rethink the idea.
I want to understand why each part works, how the pieces fit together, and what happens when someone else uses it. That is part of what I enjoy about building AI systems: there is always more to figure out than the model alone.
I am now a fifth-year master’s student at Carnegie Mellon’s Language Technologies Institute. I work on AI systems, from the data and tools around a model to how we evaluate its behavior.

The variants we play ↗I write about love and growth, often to find out what I think. I also like philosophy, especially logic. I keep poems and prose here, along with lines from books I want to remember.
Poems and prose ↗I like to think there is a little Kyrie in my step, though I would not push the comparison. My favourite part is the wordless coordination: a look across the court or a small gesture that changes the play.
Before grinding for wins, I want to understand why the system works the way it does. Usually that turns out to help. Then I can make a plan and change it when it stops working.
What I’m looking for
I like working where AI systems meet actual people. The question is what it takes for the whole system to work, including the parts around the model.
I am also happy to talk about technology, game theory, philosophy, or a poker hand you cannot stop thinking about.
